December 1990 - June 1991
English / Arabic Editor, the UNICEF organization. Duties involved editing all UNICEF reports, translation of reports, books and documentaries, interpretation during conferences, seminars and workshops.
I had to resign to start my own business and the UNICEF, UNDP and UNFPA became my first clients till date.

January-1987 - November 1989
Senior translator, Wilbur Smith Associates. A consulting firm for the USAID funded Local Development II Program.
Duties: Translation and editing of all technical manuals and reports.
The work included translating and editing manuals and contracts for: road engineering - solid waste - operation & maintenance - MIS - land management - civil works - budgeting and finance.

January-1984 - October 1990:
  • Full time translator for the Egyptian Radio (Overseas Stations). Duties: translation of political, economic, social and historical
    programs. (morning /evening shifts)
  • Translation instructor, ICI languages Institute
  • Translator / editor, El Shark El Awsat Newspaper, El-Magala Magazine. Duties included translation of scientific articles, political and social material and writing book reviews. This later developed into a full time writer and reporter.
  • Free lance interpreter / translator for the Small Farmer Project - USAID funded program aiming at upgrading techniques agricultural    awareness.
  • Freelance translator, Backer & Mackenzie, international law firm. Duties: legal translations.

June-1985 till December-1988:
  • Full time translator/interpreter, Canal Cities Consultants – a USAID funded consulting office for sanitary and potable water projects. Duties included technical manuals translation, contracts and reports.

June-1980 - December-1984:
  • Free lance translator for the Intake center, Washington D.C. Educational material and consecutive translations during meetings.
